What I want to know is when he got so highfalutin

Mom and Dad found a box of my trophies and medals from dance when they were unpacking and sent them over, so I thought about what to do with them before realizing the obvious.

But for some reason Noah thinks this little mantelpiece vignette is tacky:

I just don't see it. Maybe he's not used to being confronted with so much gold (the vignette continues out of frame, FYI).

In other news, on my first official day as a stay at home mom, Ethan christened me by having his first official tantrum in Sam's Club, forcing me to carry him out screaming. In his defense, I was being cruel: I wouldn't buy a 14-pound bag of M&Ms he found (positioned evilly in the same aisle as the diapers).

He mourned the entire way home, wailing "Nooooooo eeeeemieeeees!" Because that's what he calls M&Ms. Eemies.

No! Who puts chocolates and nappies in the same isle? that is pure evil!

I've noticed the same thing at Sam's. And at least your parents still had all your trophies! Mine threw mine away when they moved. Can you believe that?! Now I have no proof of my accomplishments.

It all started with those checkout-aisle candy displays. Then there were those quarter toy machines at the exits. Now it's the $1.00 claw machine where you least expect it. I await with bated breath the introduction of the $2.00 video games in the ladies' room.

You are cruel. Also, heartless. I mean, it's not like he was asking for a TWO POUND bag! :)

Love the trophies. I think you should leave them.

Sounds like we're having the same lovely day - hope it gets better for us both!

I would leave them in place. At least until the Olympics are over. :)

Congrats on the first day of the transisition.

Our store tantrum today was over being at the store--the youngest was not in favor of leaving the family vehicle due to the engrossing Blue's Clues DvD he was watching.

Husbands are a notoriously jealous lot. Shoot, mine gets especially grumpy over my mustache being a whole heck of a lot prettier than his! ;)

Now, as to the 14lb bag of M&Ms... I'd have thrown a fit, too!

I just have this adorable image in my head of Ethan cooing, "Emmys! Emmys!" with a golden statuette clutched in one tiny fist.

Has nearly *nothing* to do with your post, but it made me giggle.

Oooo! Except that the Emmy ties in with your beautiful trophy ensemble!

Your writing genius extends even to the loosely-related ramblings of my subconscious!

i like what you've done with the mantle. it needed some bling.

and i might have to go with ethan on this one. m&m's are clearly the single most important candy in the world. especially the blue ones. :)

First M&M's and before you know it...

he's begging for your Flat Screen TV.
