Yesterday I brought Ethan to work for a couple hours in the morning. He was quite well behaved (only two time-outs, which were supremely adorable: All I could see was the top of his curly bap as he sat on an office chair facing the wall behind my desk).
Speaking of which:
That's Ethan on his time-out stool in the hall, with one of my curlers in his hair. Might I also direct your attention to his face (that's the thing above his lower lip).
I was disappointed that he didn't display his fine vocabulary for all to marvel at (Go on, talk, you trained seal you!); he did, however, say "Mommy" approximately 4,572 times in 2.5 hours. Michaela aptly noticed that when he wasn't talking he was humming, a veritable noisemaker. Lucky for me I'm a professional Tuner Outer. Who knew working as a writer/editor for a couple years in a large shared space with 20-foot ceilings would prepare me for mothering a toddler.
P.S. Have you heard about BookSneeze.com? The tagline is "Good books are contagious." Very clever, and it just so happens "sneeze" is one of my favorite words.
I just read about it yesterday on Thomas Nelson CEO Michael Hyatt's blog. The concept is to get 10,000 bloggers to sign up as reviewers for Thomas Nelson books; you select books from current releases, they send them to you for free, and you write a review on your blog and on an online bookseller, such as Amazon. Of course, the reviews are all honest, no false positivity required. I think this is a brilliant marketing initiative, and a fine way of marrying print publishing with the online world—on top of which, it's a publisher recognizing the important role of bloggers in new marketing. I'm awaiting my first book. Woot!

Ah, the pouty face. I've grown immune to my own children's, but I have to admit Ethan's is pretty convincing!
Dude. Thats super cute.
That pouty lip just makes him even cuter! Love the curler. Thanks for the link to Book sneeze...sounds like a great idea...I'm heading over there to check it out
This picture is, as they say, worth a thousand words. Also, I'm beginning to believe you're one of those "clothing-optional" families.
You sooooo need to blow that picture up and frame it. It would be great to display it at his wedding reception. ;) Very cute, indeed.
This is great blackmail fodder as well, hang on to it for another 16 years...
Lisa, who has two teenagers who are finally old enough that they think their baby/toddler photos are funny
The book sneeze sounds awesome, and perfect for you and your literary self! Me? I'm not so good at reviewing things (um, it was good! I don't know why but I liked it.) ha!
LOVE the picture of Ethan and the curler :) so cute! The tuner-outer thing must REALLY come in handy. I could use me some of that.
Erin! When your amazing-awesome-divine-incredible book's done, let's shoot it over to Thomas Nelson. I know all kinds of peeps over there. :) And yeah, Mike Hyatt's blog is pretty good.
PS - Your kid's adorbs
