Getting back to my roots

California, land of my birth, here we come!

I've got some amazing bloggers who owe me a guest post (namely May of Anne & May, Sarah Von of Yes and Yes, and Sal of Already Pretty). However, I've been planning for my vacation the best way I know how (read: completely last-minute and with a touch of hysteria) and I've not lined up any talent for while I'm away on vacation. Vacation which starts tomorrow. At 5:30 a.m. Wahoo.

When you're not busy praying for my survival (coast to coast plane ride with Ethan, egad!) feel free to peruse the blogs listed in my blog roll. Because if I'm known for anything, it's my refined and discerning taste in writers. Also, disorganization.

I haven't forgotten about my vow to draw all the critters you requested, although I haven't drawn one for this week because I've been too busy ignoring the necessity of packing and generally operating in Panic Mode. However, I will share with you this, a drawing of an Irish dancer I did waaaaay back in high school when I worked fitting Irish dance shoes and had a lot of spare time on my hands at the shop. This is per my dad's request:

Take note of my arty, all-lower-case signature. And don't think for one second that I exaggerated the thunderiness in those thighs or the rigidity of that leap. I copied it from a photo of a professional I saw in a magazine. SO THERE.

In the meantime, if you're not already following me on Twitter, now is the time to do so. Click here to follow my every move while I'm in SoCal.

And unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to see Maggie May or May Vanderbilt, since our itinerary is limited to the LA area and Avalon. It pains me, oh it pains me. I guess all the sun and sand and waves will have to suffice. Perhaps I'll return with my signature California tan, which I lost at age 13 and have yet to find again.

Your picture reminds me a bit of one of the contestants in the Miss Idaho Falls pageant (only her hair was short and straight). Talk about amazing talent! The best part about being behind the scenes though is that after she finished all grand, smiling like it was nothing while on-stage, as soon as she exited, she was huffing and puffing like I would be after climbing a flight of stairs as fast as I could. It was awesome.
